William Jefferson Clinton Elementary School

Summary:

William Jefferson Clinton Elementary School is a public elementary school in Sherwood, Arkansas, serving 567 students in grades PK-5 as part of the Pulaski County Special School District, which is ranked 173 out of 252 districts in the state.

The school faces significant challenges, consistently performing below the district and state averages on standardized tests across all subject areas and grade levels. With a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger, William Jefferson Clinton Elementary is among the lowest-performing elementary schools in Arkansas. This may be partly due to the school's extremely high percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch, ranging from 97.18% to 100% over the past few years, indicating a predominantly economically disadvantaged student population. In contrast, nearby schools like Sylvan Hills Elementary School, Sherwood Elementary School, and Oakbrooke Elementary School generally perform better and have higher SchoolDigger ratings, with lower percentages of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch.

The school's higher spending per student compared to some nearby schools may indicate that the Pulaski County Special School District is allocating additional resources to support the needs of the student population, but these efforts do not appear to be translating into improved academic outcomes. Identifying and implementing more effective strategies to address the unique challenges faced by William Jefferson Clinton Elementary School could be crucial for improving the school's performance and providing a better educational experience for its students.

Open Quote This school is considreded one of the best schools in Arkansas. I agree for grades k-4 thru 3rd. Any grades beyond that, the teachers are horrible. The lack of communication and organization is unbelievable. Teachers loosing students work and requiring them to do it agian is not fare.. And the sad part about it, is that its an ongoing issue. If its not the teachers and grades its the bullying. There are too many ongoing issues at this school and its time for a NEW CHANGE.. The lack of professionalism is not only with the teachers its with the administration too. You can have meeting/ conference with the teachers and the administration and nothing is resolved. I am a firm believer that you can not please everyone, but at what point will the administration take a GOOD look at the entire picture. I took a chance, thinking the next year it would get better. However it has gotten worse.. Its a pity that this is the only school I'm zoned for and in the state of Arkansas you have assigned zones. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
