Open Quote I have been going to Sylvan Hills for two years, and I have to say that I am not pleased at all. Now I know that some people may disagree with my feelings towards the school, but I don't like it. The staff at the school is very rude and disrespectful. The students don't care about their grades, the staff, or the school. And the school itself is falling apart. Now, I know that they are building a new school or whatever, and that's good. But what about the teachers? Don't you think that if we get a new school, we should get new, better teachers?! The teachers and staff at Sylvan Hills are just disrespectful in every way shape and form. When a kid asks a question about the work we are doing, you aren't supposed to say "shutup and stop disrupting!!" You are supposed to say, "what number do you need help on?" Or, if you are going to the office because you don't feel good, the office members aren't supposed to send you right back to class. You should at least be able to call you parent and tell them what is wrong. I am an A' B' honor roll student. But, this last year while I was in seventh grade, my grades slipped. And I'm not saying it was only the teachers fault, but they could have helped me out ALOT more than they actually did. It's funny how when my parents are around, the teachers are very nice, and respectful. But, that seems to fade away when my parents are gone. Sylvan Hills is over all just not a good school. Yeah, they have a nice football field and a GREAT band room, but that doesn't help the way teachers and staff act to us students. All I'm saying is, if you want better for your kids, don't let them go to Sylvan Hills, because it is NOT what people say it is...AT ALL!! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
