Pineville Elementary School

Summary:

Pineville Elementary School is a public elementary school serving grades PK-4 in Pineville, West Virginia, with around 320 students. The school is part of the Wyoming County Schools district, which is ranked 33 out of 55 districts in the state and has a 2-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Pineville Elementary consistently outperforms the Wyoming County Schools district and the state of West Virginia in proficiency rates for both Math and English Language Arts (ELA) assessments. The school has a strong track record of high rankings among West Virginia elementary schools, reaching as high as 34th out of 392 schools in 2017-2018 and maintaining a 3-star rating from SchoolDigger in most recent years. Pineville Elementary performs particularly well for its male students, who rank higher than female students in the school's statewide rankings, and its White student population, who outperform the state average. However, the school has seen more mixed results for its special education and low socioeconomic status (SES) student populations.

When compared to other schools in the Wyoming County district and the neighboring McDowell County district, Pineville Elementary School generally outperforms its peers, particularly in academic proficiency rates. This suggests the school is a relative strength within its local context, though it may want to examine ways to better support its special education and low-SES students to ensure equitable outcomes for all learners.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I really love Pineville Elementary School. I think they have an awesome staff working there, and my son says he likes it better than Glen Fork, which was closer. He makes really good grades and I am so proud of him, but I know he has had some great teachers to help him along the way. I want to thank the staff for going above and beyond for our children. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
