As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote As a former student of this school, I am continuing off my previous review on Driswood. If you are considering enrolling your child here, it is wise of you not to do so, unless you like security systems involving dolls. This sounds odd, right? Well, when I was in the fourth grade, raggedy Ann dolls were placed throughout the building, so wherever a student was walking through the Driswood halls, Raggedy Ann was always watching. Open Quote I wish I had more positive thoughts about this school, it is an elementary school after all, and what is more exciting then young children coming together to learn and grow. But unfortunately, my families time at this school, was not enjoyable. Most of the teachers try their best, but the leadership negatively impacts almost every aspect. Teachers aren't provided with needed supplies or an inviting place to create and nurture our children. As a parent, you are not welcome, not even at the PTO! There is no community, for members of this school, to be a part of and it's truly sad. Many people have left and even more are thinking about ways out. I encourage you to ask around in the community and to neighbors, to got honest opinions of this school. I guarantee your most common response will be "they have great teachers" because no one truly wants to be unhappy about where they have to send their child to school, but a lot of them are and it becomes hard to come up with something nice to say. I would also like to point out that most of the negative and truthful reviews have been removed, if you have a child at this school, then this should not come as a surprise. Very glad to be gone! Open Quote Driswood has wonderful teachers and staff. The administration doesn't supply the teachers with the things they need for their classes to be run to full potential. Teachers need support for their ideas as well as supplies. Administration also discourages parental involvement. Parent involvement is not something that is encouraged by the leadership of the school. The children and staff fear the administration. I would not recommend this school to other parents. Open Quote I was a Deaf parent of a 5th grader. Since we moved to the area, I have not been impressed with this school, and the principal! I attempted to go in and eat lunch with my child, and was told that I was not allowed to do so. The principal set limits regarding how many parents could eat lunch, and how much notice was required.

Secondly, as a Deaf parent, I need a Sign Language interpreter in order to communicate. The previous schools that my son attended were always great about requesting an interpreter for me during special events. This principal completely ignored my needs, and refused to provide an interpreter most of the time. During my son's 5th grade graduation ceremony, I had requested an interpreter, but the principal decided not to get one for me. My husband had to stand up in front of the audience, during the ceremony and interpret for me. While I appreciate my husband for doing that for me, he should not HAVE to do that! He should be able to sit in the audience and enjoy the ceremony just like everyone else. The principal never once, during the graduation, come up to me and apologize, or thank my husband.

As a Deaf person, I have to use special technology for everyday activities. I use a videophone in order to communicate. If I want to call a Hearing person, I have to call them on my videophone, and through a Sign Language interpreter. On several occasions, while I was trying to call the school (through the interpreter service), the interpreter informed me that the people on the other end of the line were very rude, and seemed "annoyed" that I was calling. Absolutely NO patience for people with disabilities!!

This school is poorly run, and I am happy that my son is finally out of there! NOT a very good school! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
