Beverly Elementary

Summary:

Beverly Elementary is a public elementary school in Lynnwood, Washington, serving 446 students in grades K-6. The school is part of the Edmonds School District, which is ranked 76 out of 247 school districts in the state.

While Beverly Elementary has a relatively diverse student population, with 45.07% White, 10.54% African American, 22.65% Hispanic, 10.76% Asian, and 9.42% two or more races, its academic performance is generally lower than the district and state averages. In the 2023-2024 school year, only 36.25% of all students at Beverly Elementary were proficient or better in SBAC English Language Arts, compared to 56.14% in the Edmonds School District and 52.63% statewide. The school's performance also varies significantly across different student subgroups, with White students performing better than Hispanic students and students from low-income families.

Compared to nearby schools in the Edmonds School District, such as Meadowdale Elementary and Spruce Elementary, Beverly Elementary generally performs worse academically. However, it outperforms the nearby Cedar Valley Community School. Despite an increase in spending per student, from $12,771 in 2019-2020 to $19,981 in 2021-2022, Beverly Elementary's statewide ranking has declined, suggesting that the school's performance is not keeping pace with other schools in the state.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I went to this school, and it wasn't that great. Although the teachers are very nice, the school is very low-budget. It couldn't even afford paper. Yeah. That's right. PAPER. To learn who your teacher is, you have to go to the school on one day in the SUMMER, when you could be on vacation, to actually figure out who your teacher was, because the office is too cheap and lazy to actually send you a letter telling who your next teacher was. The food is awful, they use the gym as the cafeteria and auditorium (in which students must sit uncomfortably on the ground because of their laziness to actually set up some chairs). Also, although most teachers are fantastic, others are unsuitable for their job. In general, this school is... well... awful. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
