Open Quote I have heard wonderful things about Village School and truly felt it would be a great fit for my daughter. Unfortunately, she was not accepted for the coming year. 45% of the rising 5th grade class consists of little sisters of currently enrolled students. I find it unfair that almost half the class will be made up of girls that were accepted because of their siblings, not solely on their own merit as is expected of all other applicants. For a small school with already limited enrollment, this truly dilutes their diversity and academic focus. This was a major disappointment and I felt compelled to write this so other potential families will know what they're up against. Admission is competitive enough - even if your daughters are high achieving and well rounded, make sure they are well prepared for possible rejection. Close Quote

Open Quote Village is a caring and rigorous school. The teachers work hard to provide an enriching environment. The student go above and beyond public school. If you are looking for a great middle school for your daughter...this is it. Close Quote

Open Quote Village School, an all girls private middle school, is the best preparation a girl could have for high school. It is simply the best middle school in Charlottesville. Most of its graduates go on to public high school. Close Quote

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
