Enterprise Elementary

Summary:

Enterprise Elementary is a public magnet elementary school in Woodbridge, Virginia, serving 401 students in grades PK-5. The school is part of the Prince William County Public Schools district, which is ranked 39 out of 130 school districts in Virginia and has a 4-star rating.

While Enterprise Elementary has a significantly higher percentage of Hispanic students (65.09%) compared to the surrounding schools, its academic performance, as measured by SOL test scores, is generally lower than the district and state averages across various subjects and grade levels. For example, in 2023-2024, Enterprise Elementary's 3rd grade math proficiency rate was 66.67%, compared to the district's 76.27% and the state's 70.11%. The school has consistently ranked in the bottom half of Virginia elementary schools, with a ranking between 572 and 760 out of 1,114 schools over the past few years, placing it in the 2-star category by SchoolDigger's rating system.

However, Enterprise Elementary performs relatively well in certain student subgroups, such as English Language Learners and Low Socioeconomic Status students, ranking in the top 20% and top 30% of Virginia elementary schools, respectively, in these categories. The school's high percentage of students (74.81% in 2022-2023) receiving free or reduced-price lunch indicates a significant population of students from low-income families, which may contribute to the school's lower academic performance compared to the surrounding schools, such as Kyle R. Wilson Elementary, Sonnie Penn Elementary, and A. Henderson Elementary, which generally outperform Enterprise Elementary in academic measures.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote This school needs to finally lose its accreditation so that the acting principal can finally be fired. This is probably the only way PWCS makes an administrator change. Close Quote

Open Quote I feel this school is not great. The office staff has been wonderful and some of the teachers are great. But with the high turn over of teacher the last few years I feel that you don't know what your going to get. I also feel that the school participation from parents is low. After school activities are not widely attended by the students or their families. My child is a bright child that is often overlooked for the kids that need extra help. I feel that the kids that need help with English are going to do well in this school. (but that is just a feeling because we do not benefit from these services) As a former teacher I feel this school lacks unity and the warm fuzzy feeling you want to get from a elementary school. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
