As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote This school has taken discipline to the extreme. The police officer, with the principals approval, files misdemeanor charges for the slightest infraction. ie. A child throws a pencil out of a bus they are sent to the juvenile court system for using the pencil as a weapon. It is against the law to throw things from a bus and discipline action should be taken but taken a straight A student, send them to the court system, causing the prosecutor to use valuable time and take the courts time for what should be handled in the school is rather overkill. Sending that student, that has no prior infractions to two weeks evaluation and send to Richmond juvenile detention for 6 months is a waste of tax payers money and may just be part of the reason this school ranks in the lower 50% in academics in the state of VA.

The Vice Principal was very sympathetic with the parent but stated his hands were tied. Because of Columbine incident they were required to turn all discipline action over to the police and let them handle it.

The incident above is altered to protect the student but very real in its true story. The prosecutor struck a deal before it got to the judge and the student was not sent to Richmond but it was very close and may yet happen. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
