Timpanogos Academy

Summary:

Timpanogos Academy is a public charter elementary school located in Lindon, Utah, serving around 520 students from kindergarten to 6th grade. While the school is part of the Timpanogos Academy District, which is ranked 76th out of 98 districts in Utah and has a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger, the school itself has some unique characteristics that set it apart from the nearby public schools.

Timpanogos Academy's test scores are generally lower than the state and nearby school averages. In the 2023-2024 school year, the school's proficiency rates in RISE/English Language Arts and RISE/Mathematics were below the state and Alpine District averages across all grade levels. For instance, in 3rd grade, Timpanogos Academy's proficiency rate in RISE/English Language Arts was 26.5%, compared to the state average of 46.7%. Additionally, the school has a relatively low percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch, ranging from 6.73% to 9.63% over the past three school years, which is significantly lower than the nearby Parkside Elementary (67.31%) and Windsor School (48.51%).

Timpanogos Academy's statewide ranking has steadily declined over the past decade, from a high of 4 stars to its current 1-star rating, indicating that the school's academic performance has been deteriorating relative to other elementary schools in Utah. While the reasons for this decline are not entirely clear, the school's unique characteristics, such as its charter status and student demographics, may be contributing factors that warrant further investigation to identify potential areas for improvement.

Open Quote I have been associated with Timpanogos Academy for the past few years. It is an excellent example of what a school should be. Student's needs come first. The teachers and Principal are excellent and have definitely been a key component of the education my children have received. I appreciate all they do. Close Quote

Open Quote As a parent, I definitely wouldn't recommend this school. This school has seen a significant decline in test scores in recent years. It also lacks extracurricular activities. The school has seen a sharp decline overall in recent years. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
