As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Our children have attended this school from 2010 through 2016. I love the Saxon math and Spalding reading/spelling programs the school has integrated throughout all classes and grades. Having continuity in those core areas really helps kids succeed. If I had rated this school a few years ago, when Mr. Budge was principal, I would have given it five solid stars. But since Mrs. Kirk has taken over as principal, this school has gone downhill.

Before, TECS refused to carve out study time so kids could score higher in the SAGE tests, the prevailing idea was that studying for a test was silly and the kids should use their time to learn things that actually mattered. But now that Mrs. Kirk is at the helm, the kids spend too much time studying for the silly SAGE tests.

While TECS is still a good school, and one I would continue enrolling my children in if we weren't moving, it isn't as great as it once was. I do applaud TECS rule of hiring teachers for a 2 year trial and then letting them go if they don't adhere to the standards. I LOVE the Saxon and Spalding programs. I don't enjoy the continuous fundraising the school promotes and I also don't like the grumpy music teacher. But still, overall, this school has a majority of good teachers and a strong scholastic emphasis. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
