Prairie View Elementary

Summary:

Prairie View Elementary is a public elementary school in Rhome, Texas, serving 631 students in grades PK-5. The school is part of the Northwest Independent School District, which is ranked 244 out of 968 school districts in the state.

While Prairie View Elementary has a more diverse student population compared to nearby schools, with a higher percentage of Hispanic students, the school has consistently ranked in the bottom half of Texas elementary schools, with a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger. Its academic performance, as measured by STAAR test scores, is significantly lower than the district and state averages across all grade levels and subject areas. The school's performance varies greatly across different student subgroups, with the school struggling the most with Hispanic, White, English Language Learner, and economically disadvantaged students.

In comparison, the nearby schools, such as Haslet Elementary, Carl E. Schluter Elementary, and Seven Hills Elementary, generally perform better academically and have higher school rankings and ratings. This suggests that Prairie View Elementary may need to examine the practices and strategies of its higher-performing peers to identify areas for improvement and address the school's declining performance over the years.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote As a parent I feel there is soooooo much lacking from Prairie View. The teachers yell at their students, and berate them in front of fellow classmates. When you bring this to the principles attention he makes you feel like your wasting his time and that you are a big joke. He also give you the impression that it is probably you child not the teacher that is the problem. As a parent I work hard with my child in there studies and social behavior. I realize that they are young and are still lacking these skills but the teachers dont seem to understand this. They are either burnt out or to new or just are not ment to be teachers. I feel I get no where with this school. Im a stay at home mother and put a lot of time and money into this school for the benifit of my child and feel that even this is not enough. Its like Im back in high school again. You are either in or your out when it comes to this school and the sad thing is you never know where you stand unless you are 24/7 brown nosing the principle and staff. If I could I would rip my kid out asap and put them in private school like westlake academy. good luck to those who have to send your kids to this school....maybe you will be one of the lucky ones. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
