Blake Manor Elementary is a public elementary school in Manor, Texas, serving 435 students in grades K-6. The school is part of the Manor Independent School District, which is ranked 902 out of 968 districts in the state and has a 0-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Blake Manor Elementary has several concerning trends. The school consistently ranks in the bottom quartile of Texas elementary schools, with a statewide ranking between 4,003 and 4,312 out of 4,647 to 4,675 schools over the past few years. Its performance on STAAR assessments is significantly below the state and district averages across all grade levels and subjects. The school has a high percentage of students (83.68%) receiving free or reduced-price lunch, indicating a high level of economic disadvantage. Interestingly, when compared to other schools in the same district and nearby districts, such as Bluebonnet Trail Elementary, Blake Manor Elementary is an outlier in terms of academic performance.

The data analysis also reveals significant achievement gaps among certain student subgroups at Blake Manor Elementary. The school's performance on STAAR assessments is particularly low for Hispanic, English Language Learner, and Gifted and Talented students, all of which rank in the bottom quartile of Texas elementary schools. Additionally, the school's statewide ranking has steadily declined over the past several years, suggesting that its academic performance is not improving and may be worsening relative to other Texas elementary schools.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote very poor district and very poor school. unfortunately this presents a bad combination and the end result is a poor education. the teachers seem to be in the same boat as the students and the school seems to run on the verge of chaos. if your child is smart the reality is that they will be as smart as the slowest student. also because the hispanic density is so high most of the children do not speak english, which also holds the rest of the students back.
thank god i'm moving out of state! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
