Forest Vista Elementary

Summary:

Forest Vista Elementary is a high-performing public elementary school in Flower Mound, Texas, serving 569 students in grades PK-5 as part of the Lewisville Independent School District (ISD). This school consistently ranks among the top elementary schools in Texas, with exceptional academic performance that significantly outpaces the district and state averages.

Forest Vista Elementary's diverse student population, with 51.14% White, 13.88% Hispanic, and 23.2% Asian students, stands out compared to nearby schools like Parkway Elementary and Lakeland Elementary, which have higher percentages of Hispanic and African American students. Additionally, Forest Vista has a relatively low percentage of economically disadvantaged students, ranging from 13.81% to 17.22% over the past three years, in contrast with the higher rates at nearby schools.

The school's higher per-student spending, ranging from $8,784 to $11,671 over the past three years, may contribute to its strong academic performance and resources available to students. However, this disparity in funding and resources highlights the socioeconomic disparities within the Lewisville ISD, which may have implications for educational opportunities and support for students from different backgrounds.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote This school has steadily declined in recent years. The administration does NOT set a good example of how to lead and treat other people. They run the place like a prison camp and the assistant principal behaves like a prison warden. There are many other high quality elementary schools nearby. I recommend choosing one of those instead of FVE. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
