As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote My daughters went here until 4th grade when one of my daughters had a severe issue with bullying so we transferred to a different school. This school is located in a more wealthy part of Austin therefore the income levels of the students' parents are really high and if you are not as well off as them then you are treated differently. I had multiple issues with my daughter being bullied and made fun of more than a handful of times because her weight, her clothes, etc. We are not poor but we aren't well off either, we live an average life just like the majority of people. The parents of these children teach them to say things such as "I'm not a spoiled brat, my mom says I'm just sassy". They would tell my daughter it looks like she is having a baby. We have not had one single issue at her current school as we did at River Place. She would come home crying because the children were so mean to her. The school requests SO MUCH money from the parents throughout the year.... for things like new ipads, field trips, school tshirts, etc. I have never heard of a school asking for funds from the students to be able to stock the fridge in the teachers' lounge with drinks and snacks! NEVER have I heard of this! I appreciate all the teachers do, but having to feed them and provide drinks throughout the year is just crazy! Though Mrs. Prindle is a good principal, issues are not handled appropriately in my opinion. The children do not have consequences for behavior such as bullying, nor are expectations of the children straight across the board. Grandview Elementary is a mile from River Place and a MUCH BETTER school. I did not have any issues with my oldest at Grandview as I did with her at River Place. The children feel they are "better" than others and are just mean to children that are not as blessed as they are. Material things are more important to these kids than their education and the parents teach them such things. All in all, I would not ever recommend River Place and if you want your child to grow up with normalcy and not a school where the income level is so high than transfer to River Place. Both of my daughters have excelled since transferring schools and I wish I would have moved them sooner. They are much happier now which creates a better learning environment. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
