Wunderlich Intermediate

Summary:

Wunderlich Intermediate is a public middle school located in Klein, Texas, serving grades 6-8 with a total enrollment of 1,316 students. The school is part of the Klein Independent School District, which is ranked 204 out of 968 districts in Texas and has a 4-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Wunderlich Intermediate faces several challenges, including a diverse student population with varying academic needs, lower-than-average test scores, and a high percentage of economically disadvantaged students. The school's performance is generally lower than nearby schools, such as Kleb Intermediate, which is also part of the Klein ISD and has higher test scores and a higher statewide ranking. Wunderlich Intermediate's rankings for different student subgroups suggest that the school may need to focus on improving the academic outcomes of its African American, Hispanic, and English Language Learner students. However, the school's ranking for Gifted and Talented students is relatively higher than its overall ranking, indicating that it may be providing effective support for its high-achieving students.

Despite Wunderlich Intermediate's relatively high per-student spending, its academic outcomes are generally lower than the state and district averages, suggesting that the school may need to evaluate the effectiveness of its resource allocation and instructional practices. The school's performance is also lower than the nearby Harmony School of Technology-Houston, a public charter school that serves a similar demographic but has higher test scores and a higher statewide ranking. Overall, Wunderlich Intermediate faces significant challenges in supporting the diverse academic needs of its student population and improving its academic outcomes.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
