Lakeview Elementary

Summary:

Lakeview Elementary is a public elementary school in Sugar Land, Texas, serving 306 students in grades PK-5 as part of the Fort Bend Independent School District. The school has a diverse student population, with a higher percentage of Asian students compared to the district and state averages.

Academically, Lakeview Elementary's performance is generally on par with or slightly below the district and state averages, but the school stands out in a few areas. Its 5th-grade students outperformed the district and state in mathematics, and the school ranks very highly in the performance of its gifted and talented students. However, the school's overall statewide ranking has been declining in recent years, and there are disparities in the performance of different student subgroups, with Asian and Hispanic students performing relatively lower compared to African American and English Language Learner students.

Compared to nearby schools in the Fort Bend ISD, Lakeview Elementary generally performs better than Dulles Elementary but lags behind the higher-performing schools like Walker Station Elementary and Highlands Elementary. Additionally, Lakeview Elementary's relatively high spending per student does not seem to translate into consistently strong academic performance across all grade levels and subject areas, raising questions about the efficient allocation of resources.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote It is about 24 students to one teacher, you need to up dates this in your system. My son has been there for 2 years, and had nothing but bad experience there. These teachers don’t communicate well with you. I am constantly speaking to the Vice principal about effective communication. My son has not been getting the help he deserves to excel in school, and they fail to identify what could be the problem until so had to beg for help. Which takes forever to get the process going by the way. I high don’t recommend this school at all & can’t wait to get him into a new school. I am so happy he will not be attending next year due to renovations to the school !! Close Quote

Open Quote There have been significant drops in the 'grades' on the school's report card. So much so that we withdrew our child. We had saved some of his kindergarten work and found that he was doing a kindergarten assignment in the second grade. He, at 6 years old, told us he was bored in school and that his work was too easy. I have a friend with a son in HISD. English is her 2nd language so sometimes I help with his homework. The work was so much more advanced. I was shocked. They were doing real research and our child had CUP as one of his spelling words in 2nd grade. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
