Hancock Elementary faces significant challenges compared to its peers. The school has a higher percentage of African American (42.38%) and Hispanic (34.3%) students than surrounding schools, and it consistently underperforms the CFISD district and the state of Texas in STAAR test scores across all grade levels and subject areas. In the 2023-2024 school year, Hancock Elementary's proficiency rates in reading and math were significantly lower than the district and state averages. The school has a low statewide ranking, consistently placing in the bottom quartile of Texas elementary schools, with a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Hancock Elementary's performance has been declining over the years, with its statewide ranking dropping from 1865 out of 4329 Texas elementary schools in 2016-2017 to 3465 out of 4675 in 2023-2024. Nearby schools within the CFISD district, such as Francone Elementary, Matzke Elementary, and Yeager Elementary, generally outperform Hancock Elementary in academic achievement and statewide rankings, despite serving similar student populations. However, Hancock Elementary's Gifted and Talented program and English Language Learner (ELL) support appear to be relative strengths, with the school ranking in the top quartile of Texas elementary schools for these student subgroups in recent years.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Failure as people who work in education system, a 10 years old child have been running them like her slaves , teachers are crying that AP or the Principle itself don’t do anything, for the last 2 years they had me leave message and never called back, today I managed to talk to front desk 4 times within 30 minutes and they failed to even get anywhere with me, They told my wife if she don’t leave the call CFISD police, so I begged them to do so when I’m going there, but now that I think about it, these people in this location don’t even worth of a time of any parents or students for that matter, failure to be not only professionals but simple workers in their line of duty
I’m disappointed to see workers like that failing miserably our Children and the Education system…
I hope no other parents or child goes through what we dealt with, and if you are, don’t feel bad as you’re not alone, this is their system of work at this location.
That’s all folks Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
