Open Quote My daughter left after attending three years and was severely behind when tested for the public school we put her in. It took a year and a half and Siskin tutoring $$$ to get her level with her peers. I'm disgusted I spent so much for so little! Close Quote

Open Quote Our children attended this school for two years (2006-2008) and then my husband was transferred with his job out of state. When we moved, there was not another Montessori school in the area so we decided to put them in a nearby public school that was highly recommended.

When the new school tested both children, we found that each of them were far behind what the school expected for their grade level. My son was about 7 months behind where he needed to be and my other son was over 18 months behind where he should have been. We were surprised because both always got good report cards at TMS and were at or above where they were supposed to be.

Both boys were upset to learn they would have to have a lot of tutoring after school and during the summer to catch them up so they could pass the school year. We were lead to believe that TMS was very advanced compared to other schools and even the private schools in Chattanooga. We as parents were upset to have paid tuition for two years to only have our children be far behind. When we moved into the Chattanooga area in 2006, both boys were on the honor roll at their previous private school. Close Quote

Open Quote We had to transfer to public school due to financial reasons. We were shocked to find out that our children were behind in math and reading when tested. In some areas, they were behind more than a year. When they left The Montessori School, they had good reports, noting they had mastered Montessori curriculum to grade level. Close Quote

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
