360 High School

Summary:

360 High School is a public high school in Providence, Rhode Island, serving 335 students in grades 9-12. The school is part of the Providence School District, which is ranked 48 out of 60 districts in the state and has a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger.

360 High School consistently performs below the state and district averages in standardized test scores, with only 12.2% of 11th-grade students proficient or better in SAT/English Language Arts, compared to 29.8% in the Providence district and 47.8% statewide. The school also struggles to support its student subgroups, ranking in the bottom half of Rhode Island high schools for female, male, Hispanic, and low socioeconomic status students, and 7th out of 7 high schools for English Language Learners. Despite relatively high spending per student, ranging from $11,730 to $14,328, the academic outcomes do not reflect this level of investment.

The challenges faced by 360 High School are not unique within the Providence School District, as nearby schools such as Dr. Jorge Alvarez High School, Central High School, and Providence Career Technical also struggle with low academic performance and high percentages of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch. However, Classical High School, also within the same district, stands out as a high-performing school, highlighting the stark contrast in educational outcomes within the Providence School District.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I spent three months at 360 High School as a practicum student when I was in undergrad. The staff could not have been more rude and unwelcoming to me or the other practicum students from my college.

The feedback we received as beginning educators was ignorant, unhelpful, and completely unprofessional.

I've had my own classroom for a few years and I can attribute my strengths as a teacher to my 4 other practicums and 2 student teaching placements. But not here. I hope no one in any new teacher program is ever placed here, or has to experience what we did. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
