The Crefeld School

OUtstanding school - excellent choice for a "different" kind of education. My son did well at a 3000+ area high school, drowned in multiple choice AP exams and stress. My daughter needed something different and Crefeld gave her a loving, supportive place to grow, express herself and show what a strong academic student she was. She traveled a week each year with faculty and students; she was in plays and musical performances, displayed her art work and read her poetry publicly. She went from having migraines many days a week to about once a year. What Crefeld offered our family was a safe, supportive school with loving faculty very enthusiastic and well-trained in their fields. The administration helped us with any bumps that came up in my daughter's four years there and the college placement was brilliant. She is now happy at a four year private college (on substantial academic scholarship) and her Crefeld faculty are still reaching out to her to support her. If you are not experiencing that kind of school now, you need to at least tour Crefeld. It does not try to fit every child but if they are a fit for your child, the results can be life-changing.

Teachers are good and bad. Some really care, others follow the apathetic attitude of the head of school. The new administration has really messed things up for some students. They are losing students everyday due to the changes that George has implemented. My son is a freshman, and I am not sure I will have him finish his school experience at Crefeld. Poor choices regarding curriculum, addressing problems and a "don't care" attitude by senior administration is causing some real friction. Don't be fooled by the visit. Ask to talk to other parents before applying.
