Its proficiency rates on PSSA tests in Math (31.8%), Science (51.1%), and English Language Arts (54.4%) are all lower than the state and district averages. This trend has led to the school's ranking among Pennsylvania middle schools declining from 274 in 2018-2019 to 385 in 2022-2023. The school's performance also varies significantly among different student subgroups, with Perkiomen Valley Middle School-East, Spring-Ford Intermediate School 5th/6th, and Spring-Ford Middle School 8th Grade Center outperforming Pottsgrove Middle School on these measures.

Additionally, the school's ranking for students from low socioeconomic backgrounds is particularly low, suggesting that addressing these disparities could be a key focus for the school's improvement efforts.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I have an 8th grader and a 6th grader in the Middle School. The teachers work really hard to teach the kids while keeping their attention. And they succeed! My oldest was able to take the Algebra Keystone exam in 7th grade and scored Advanced along with many of his classmates. Both my 8th grader and 6th grader scored advanced on their PSSAs even with the new scoring. I know a lot of that is in thanks to their teachers.

Overall we are really pleased with the Middle School. The teachers and administrative staff go a long way in making it a fantastic school. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
