Hatfield Elementary School

Summary:

Hatfield Elementary School is a public elementary school serving 487 students in grades K-6 in the North Penn School District in Hatfield, Pennsylvania. The school has a diverse student population, with 34.5% White, 13.14% African American, 28.34% Hispanic, and 14.99% Asian students.

While Hatfield Elementary School has a high percentage of students from low-socioeconomic backgrounds, with 64.48% qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch, its academic performance lags behind the district and state averages. In the 2022-2023 school year, the school's proficiency rates in Math (37.5%) and English Language Arts (53%) were significantly lower than the North Penn School District (52.8% and 66.7%) and the state of Pennsylvania (39.3% and 53.8%). The school's performance on PSSA tests also varies significantly among different student subgroups, with Hispanic and low-socioeconomic status students performing significantly worse than their peers.

Hatfield Elementary School's academic performance is generally lower than the nearby schools in the North Penn School District, such as Bridle Path Elementary School, Franconia Elementary School, and Kulp Elementary School. However, the school's performance on Science tests is more competitive, with proficiency rates above the district and state averages. Despite the school's relatively high per-student spending of $19,420 in the 2021-2022 school year, its statewide ranking has steadily declined over the past decade, suggesting that the school may need to implement targeted interventions and strategies to improve student outcomes.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote This school is filled with a bunch of daycare workers. They might as well be considered a daycare for all the lack of actual education going on in this school. Hopefully now that D'Ana Waters has been replaced thing will change and the school will actually stop functioning as a daycare for illiterate children and actually teach real academics. Close Quote

Open Quote Once again this school has underachieved yet another year. Every year this school does worse and worse with their proficiency score and nothing is done to address this issue. Great job to the staff who continue to let down these children! Yes, that is sarcasm for those of you who don't understand the concept. Close Quote

Open Quote This school is a disgrace. With the amount of money they spent on building a new school you would think they would've hired better staff. The achievement levels have drastically deteriorated over previous years. Don't waste your kids' time. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
