Linden Elementary School

Summary:

Linden Elementary School is a high-performing public elementary school in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, serving students from kindergarten to 6th grade as part of the Central Bucks School District. The school consistently ranks among the top elementary schools in the state, with a statewide ranking of 93 out of 1,534 schools in the 2022-2023 school year and a 5-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Linden Elementary School's academic performance is exceptional, with students significantly outperforming state and district averages on PSSA tests in Math, Science, and English Language Arts. In the 2022-2023 school year, 70.4% of Linden students were proficient or better in PSSA Math, compared to 61.2% for the Central Bucks School District and 39.3% for the state of Pennsylvania. The school also had an impressive 98.1% of students proficient or better in PSSA Science, far exceeding the district (83.9%) and state (65.6%) averages. However, the school's student population is relatively homogeneous, with 83.11% of students identifying as White, in contrast to some nearby schools like Mill Creek Elementary (39.02% non-White) and Groveland Elementary (24.91% non-White).

Linden Elementary School also serves a relatively affluent community, with only 10.08% of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch, lower than nearby schools like Doyle Elementary (18.75%) and Groveland Elementary (21.21%). The school's per-student spending of $18,902 in the 2021-2022 school year is also higher than the state average and some nearby schools, which may contribute to its academic success. However, these factors raise questions about the school's efforts to promote diversity and inclusion, as well as its ability to address the needs of economically disadvantaged students.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote As a longtime parent, I’m disappointed by the only-okay teachers, weak administration and abysmal parent FB page. I’m really looking forward to middle school! Close Quote

Open Quote Brought a house in Central Bucks for the school district! Linden is amazing, the teachers are engaged and passionate, the staff are friendly and accomadating, the school itself is very cute and safe. If you live in the Borough, this is one of the schools your child will be attending. I can't say enough good things about living in the Borough. It is like old time Americana blended with culture and diversity. Close Quote

Open Quote As a parent of a child in the Learning Support system, I would not recommend this school or district. Very difficult to work with, kids are mostly kept in the lower level area except for one class to keep the state happy. Their reputation far exceeds the actual results. Reported numbers and rankings are hardly supported by daily activities Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
