Midwest City Middle School

Summary:

Midwest City Middle School is a public middle school serving 1,046 students in grades 6-8 in the Midwest City-Del City school district in Midwest City, Oklahoma. The school's academic performance consistently underperforms compared to state and district averages, with significantly lower proficiency rates in English Language Arts and Mathematics. Additionally, the school has a high percentage of students from low-socioeconomic backgrounds, with 66.35% of students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch.

Midwest City Middle School's performance has declined over the years, as evidenced by its decreasing statewide ranking and lower proficiency rates. In the 2023-2024 school year, the school ranked 189 out of 189 Oklahoma middle schools, with a 0-star rating from SchoolDigger. This is a significant drop from the 2010-2011 school year, when the school ranked 147 out of 542 Oklahoma middle schools and had a 4-star rating. When compared to nearby schools in the same district, such as Carl Albert Middle School, Midwest City Middle School generally underperforms on most academic measures.

The school's challenges in academic performance, socioeconomic status, and student-teacher ratio suggest that Midwest City Middle School may need to implement comprehensive strategies to address these issues and improve student outcomes. Targeted interventions and a focus on addressing the school's declining performance and racial achievement gaps could be important steps in helping the school better serve its students and community.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote This is the best school in the district, i promise. It is a great school. There is a wide variety of after school activities and and brain building activities and good lunch schedule and slightly healthier lunches than Carl Albert. I would definitely not put my kid in an okc school even a private one, there are so many disclaimers for those and bad overall ratings. Monroney has high standards. i didnt want to let my kid go there it seemed like it was in the city which has problems, so it wouldn't be good, but boy was i wrong. Close Quote

Open Quote I am a new student here at Monroney and Most of the students here are nice, you will find some trouble finding one particular group or "clique" to submit yourself into though. There are some rude students and the students here are not very open-minded and they don't accept new children there very easily. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
