Kellyville Upper Elementary School

Summary:

Kellyville Upper Elementary School is a public elementary school serving grades 3-6 in Kellyville, Oklahoma, with 230 students. The school has demonstrated strong academic performance, particularly in English Language Arts and Mathematics, outperforming state averages. Over the past decade, the school has steadily improved its statewide ranking, rising from 654 out of 846 Oklahoma elementary schools in 2010-2011 to 147 out of 389 in the current 2023-2024 school year.

Kellyville Upper Elementary School has a relatively low student-teacher ratio, which may contribute to its academic success. The school also serves a high percentage of students from low socioeconomic backgrounds, with 79.57% of students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch in the 2023-2024 school year. Despite this, the school has performed well for this subgroup, ranking 52 out of 506 Oklahoma elementary schools for low socioeconomic status students in 2020-2021. In comparison, the nearby Kellyville Elementary School, which serves younger grades (PK-2), has consistently lower rankings and test scores, suggesting that the upper elementary grades at Kellyville may be driving the overall academic success of the district.

While Kellyville Upper Elementary School's overall performance is strong, its ranking for white students is relatively low, at 296 out of 403 Oklahoma elementary schools in 2020-2021. This indicates that the school may need to focus on addressing the needs of its white student population to ensure equitable outcomes. Additionally, when compared to the nearby Freedom Elementary School, which is ranked among the top schools in the state, Kellyville Upper Elementary School still performs well, but has room for improvement, particularly in Mathematics. This suggests that Kellyville Upper Elementary School could learn from the practices and strategies of the highest-performing schools in the region.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote This school is a joke. Kids are allowed to threaten and hit other kids and nothing is done about it. If you're related to someone in the school's employment your kid is a star and they never get in trouble otherwise they are a outcast. If a kid didn't start here in kindergarten then they are never accepted. These outcasts are the kids considered bad and troublemakers. They are made fun of and their things are stolen and it is overlooked. If a kid didn't start here in kindergarten then they are never accepted. If a child lives in a place with a bad reputation they will not make it in this school. The kids have no respect for teachers or themselves. In thirty years 3 out of ten managed to graduate and it was just because they were outcast and lived in an area that had a bad reputation years ago and not in town. These kids get no education, teachers are more concerned about drugging them so they can control them. Bus drivers are even abusive to the kids. This is the worst school I have ever seen. It should be closed permanently.. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
