Angie Debo has a diverse student population, with 38.51% White, 22.97% African American, 15.03% Hispanic, 6.04% Asian, and 15.89% two or more races. However, the school's academic performance, as measured by state assessments, is generally lower than the Edmond district and state averages. Additionally, Angie Debo has a relatively high percentage of students (44.91%) receiving free or reduced-price lunch, indicating a higher proportion of students from low-socioeconomic backgrounds.

Compared to nearby schools, Angie Debo's academic performance is generally lower than Frontier Elementary and Washington Irving Elementary, which have higher proficiency rates and better statewide rankings. However, Angie Debo performs better than the more socioeconomically disadvantaged Scissortail Elementary and Quail Creek Elementary, which are located in other districts. To improve overall academic outcomes, the school and Edmond district may need to focus on targeted interventions and support for students from disadvantaged backgrounds, as well as continued professional development for teachers.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I brought my daughter out here from California and was impressed with the school for the most part. The school is a LOT larger than we were used to and I think that some of the community feel that we were used to got lost in that quantity. The school is in great shape, the teachers have all been very nice, and I was impressed with the science lab and computer lab. I would definitely wish that they would get more parent involvement and smaller class sizes. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
