Veterans Tribute CTA High School

Summary:

Veterans Tribute CTA High School is a public magnet high school in Las Vegas, Nevada, serving 824 students in grades 9-12. The school is part of the Clark County School District, which is the 7th ranked district out of 13 in Nevada and is rated 3 stars out of 5 by SchoolDigger.

Veterans Tribute CTA High School consistently ranks among the top high schools in Nevada, maintaining a 4 or 5-star rating from SchoolDigger in most years. The school's students outperform the Clark County and Nevada averages in several key academic metrics, including proficiency in EOC Science Exam/Science and ACT/English. Despite having a very high percentage of students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch, reaching 100% in recent years, the school maintains a relatively low student-teacher ratio of around 22:1 and spends $11,669 per student, which is higher than the state and district averages.

When compared to nearby schools, such as Rancho High School and Western High School, Veterans Tribute CTA High School stands out in terms of its academic performance, with students outperforming their peers in the Clark County and Nevada averages. This is particularly notable given the school's high percentage of low-income students, which is often associated with lower academic achievement. The school's success in serving a diverse, predominantly low-income student population can serve as a model for other schools facing similar challenges.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote There was a situation that was personal for me and my family, whose child goes to Veterans. I must say that the situation, while personal and private, was handled with the greatest of respect and sensitivity that the situation required. I am comfortable that my family member that goes to this school is well considered and I felt at ease with the outcome and the quick response they gave. I am glad that my family member is going to the school and that they are diligent and kind. Close Quote

Open Quote This school is great! I came the first year they opened and im not planning in leaving any time soon! This schhol has very high standards. You must have a G.P.A of at least 2.4 and it has to be mantained the whole year to return. They kick you out for the slightest things because they need to maintain a good record. We have 5 programs:Computer Forensics, 911 Dispath, C.S.I, EMS, and Law Enforcement. I am in the EMS(Emergency Medical Services) and love it! Even though paremdic or EMT is not in my future career it never hurts to try other things. We have our own ambulance simulator. Also we have a school wide scenario from the GPS foundation and all first responders(who have been there since freshman year) were reported to a scene where we had a guy running around school with a bat beating everyone(not real!) and law enforcement students arrested him, EMS where on scene helping everyone who got hurt by "drunk" man, 911 dispathers resonded to all calls, computer forensics tracked all his info, and CSI investigated the scene and ran blood test. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
