Schofield Jack Lund Middle School

Summary:

Schofield Jack Lund Middle School is a public middle school located in Las Vegas, Nevada, serving 1,019 students in grades 6-8 as part of the Clark County School District, which is the 7th ranked district out of 13 in the state and is rated 3 stars out of 5 by SchoolDigger.

While Schofield Jack Lund has a more diverse student population compared to nearby schools, the school has seen a decline in its statewide ranking and SchoolDigger rating over the past few years, dropping from a 3-star rating and ranking in the top half of Nevada middle schools to a 1-star rating and ranking in the bottom quarter. The school's proficiency rates in SBAC Mathematics and Reading are significantly lower than the Clark County and Nevada averages across all grade levels, and it has an extremely high percentage of students (100%) receiving free or reduced-price lunch, indicating a high level of economic disadvantage among the student population.

Schofield Jack Lund's performance lags behind many of the nearby middle schools in the Clark County district, particularly in terms of test scores and school rankings. For example, schools like Webb Del E Middle School and Miller Bob Middle School consistently outperform Schofield Jack Lund across multiple metrics. Addressing the school's challenges will likely require a multi-faceted approach focused on improving instructional practices, providing targeted support for struggling students, and addressing the broader socioeconomic factors impacting the school community.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote My child hates this school. He has not been bullied by other kids It’s the administration the lady in the Dean’s office is awful yells at the kids and the degrates them. In Front of me the parent I could only imagine how they r being treated when I’m not around. Problems with 5 out of 7 teachers. my child has he thinks of it like a prison going from cell to cell. I spoke to the principal and counselor several times they told me to take him to a psychiatrist so I did find out there is no social anxiety there with my child it is the school system the teachers!!!!!! only two of his teachers are good or the rest do not respond to emails or phone calls. I have spoke to five other parents and same thing -different situation The teachers r the bully’s yelling and degrading the kids. I really do not like this school. I’m ready to pull him out and look for a better school. Terrible experience. Ect. Do not send your child to this school if u r thinking about it. I never seen any thing so bad at a school in my life. Open Quote Schofield was the first place I started working as an ELL Specialist. For me and for a lot of parents I have worked with, it is one of the best school in Las Vegas. The school has a beautiful team and very well prepared staff. Teachers care about each of their students and they are very concern about what happen in and out school.
The principal is a person which you can count and asks whatever question you may have. He has good communication skills, very responsible and able to solve any problem in the school.
I recommend Schofield Middle School if you really want to learn and feel save.

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
