Amplus Durango consistently outperforms the State Sponsored Charter Schools district and the state of Nevada in academic assessments across all grade levels and subjects. For example, in the 2023-2024 school year, 62.6% of Amplus Durango students were proficient or better in SBAC/Reading, compared to 54.1% for the district and 41.3% for the state. The school has also seen a steady increase in spending per student, from $4,368 in 2018-2019 to $6,269 in 2021-2022, indicating a commitment to investing in its educational program.

When compared to other nearby charter schools, such as Sports Leadership and Management Academy, CIVICA Academy, and Mater Academy East, Amplus Durango stands out for its consistently higher academic performance across all grade levels and subjects. However, the school's relatively high student-teacher ratio of 38.6 in 2022-2023 may raise questions about equity and access for underserved populations, as it is higher than the state average but not uncommon for charter schools.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote American Preparatory Academy has a school model that should be duplicated all over the world. The school/Administrators have implemented curriculums and a daily plan that utilizes time to the max. The teachers are exceptional and the students are the happiest I've witnessed at any school. Their motto to provide a safe and effective place for students to develop academically and in their characters is a high priority for the school. The volunteer programs they have implemented are amazingly effective. They are forerunners and should be acknowledged as one of the most effective school systems in the nation. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
