Kittatinny Regional High School is a public high school located in Newton, New Jersey, serving grades 7-12 with a student population of 781. The school is part of the Newton Public School District, which is ranked 285 out of 615 districts in New Jersey and has a 3-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Kittatinny Regional High School has several key strengths, including consistently high four-year graduation rates ranging from 95.2% to 98.8% over the past five years, outperforming many of the nearby schools like Sparta High School and Lenape Valley Regional High School. The school also maintains a 0.0% dropout rate, an impressive achievement compared to the surrounding schools. Kittatinny Regional High School students generally perform better than the state average on NJSLA/PARCC assessments in English Language Arts and Mathematics, particularly in 7th and 8th grade.

However, the school faces some challenges, such as a declining statewide ranking from 117th out of 416 high schools in 2018-2019 to 178th out of 422 high schools in 2022-2023, suggesting that it may be struggling to keep up with the performance of other high schools in the state. Additionally, the school's performance varies significantly across different student subgroups, with female students outperforming male students and the Hispanic and White student subgroups performing at different levels compared to the state averages. Despite these challenges, Kittatinny Regional High School remains a strong-performing school with several key strengths that parents should consider when evaluating educational options for their children.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Students, teachers, administration, and lunches are absolute garbage. Students don't know how to respect each other properly unless you're in a specific clique, teachers and administrators are usually biased against a person being accused of being something they didn't do wrong and lunches, don't get me started. If you have to choose a high school, please do not pick this high school unless you want your children to lose their souls Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
