Emge Elementary

Summary:

Emge Elementary is a public elementary school in O'Fallon, Missouri, serving 337 students in grades K-5. As part of the highly-ranked Fort Zumwalt R-II school district, Emge consistently stands out as one of the top-performing elementary schools in the state.

Emge Elementary's academic excellence is evident in its consistently high rankings, with the school placing between 7th and 188th out of over 900 elementary schools in Missouri in recent years. Its students routinely outperform state and district averages on standardized tests, with 73.7% of 4th-graders achieving proficiency in Mathematics, compared to 59.5% for the district and 43.8% for the state. However, the school's student population is less racially diverse than some of the nearby schools, with a higher percentage of White (79.23%) and Asian (5.93%) students.

Another notable aspect of Emge Elementary is its relatively low percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch, ranging from 6.09% to 12.66% in recent years, significantly lower than nearby schools like Dardenne Elementary (42.48%) and Rock Creek Elementary (23.27%). This suggests the school may serve a more affluent student population, which could contribute to its strong academic performance and access to resources, as evidenced by its higher per-student spending compared to the state and district averages.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote What a great school. This school has such a small town feel to it. The principal Mr. "T" knows every child individually it seems. My son is moving to middle school this (2010) school year but we have a daughter starting next year. Children have an awesome place to learn a grow here. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
