Eisenhower Elementary

Summary:

Eisenhower Elementary is a public elementary school in Coon Rapids, Minnesota, serving 473 students in grades K-5. It is part of the Anoka-Hennepin School District, which is ranked 160 out of 463 districts in the state and has a 3-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Eisenhower Elementary stands out for its diverse student population, with higher percentages of African American (11.84%), Hispanic (17.12%), and multi-racial (10.78%) students compared to nearby schools like Hoover Elementary and Jefferson Elementary. The school's academic performance, as measured by MCA-III test scores, is generally on par with or slightly below district and state averages, but it has shown strong performance for its African American and Hispanic student subgroups, ranking in the top 40 and top 110 schools in Minnesota, respectively, for these subgroups. Additionally, Eisenhower has seen a significant increase in its free/reduced lunch rate, from 39.51% in 2021-2022 to 60.47% in 2022-2023, indicating a growing population of economically disadvantaged students.

Compared to nearby schools, Eisenhower Elementary stands out for its relatively low student-teacher ratio, ranging from 12.4 to 13.4 over the past three years, which is lower than schools like Madison Elementary and Johnsville Elementary. While Eisenhower's academic performance has fluctuated, the school's strong support for its African American and Hispanic student subgroups is a notable strength, and its low student-teacher ratio could be leveraged to improve overall academic outcomes.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I used to go to Eisenhower Elementary school for grades 1-3. They have the greatest most nicest teachers I have ever met. One teacher I recommend is Linda Protivinsky. The music teacher, Cathy Yseth, is a great choir and music teacher. I recommend sending your child to this great school. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
