Open Quote All Saints does a good job with younger students (pre-K through 5th grade), however the problems arise in the middle school. The middle school has some wonderful teachers, but unfortunately the positives of having a few good teachers are grossly over shadowed by having an administration that allows a few staff members to bully and demoralize the children through punitive actions. So you can judge for yourself, here are a few examples of common "infractions" 7th and 8th grade students get punished for:

- giggling when being commanded to pick a piece of paper up that someone else dropped (or smiling/giggling anytime actually; an administrator told a student, "just don't laugh and you won't have to worry about getting in trouble." Really? Don't laugh in school with your friends?
- sitting on swings facing the wrong way (I'm not talking about someone who is standing on the swing, or straddling the seat, I am actually talking about someone who is sitting properly on the swing, but for some irrational reason is only allowed to sit facing a certain way).
- spending too much time in the bathroom taking care of bodily functions. A couple of the lunch monitors are actually known to follow girls into the bathroom and stand next to the stalls while the girls take care of their business, which can be humiliating for girls who are learning to deal with monthly cycles.
- talking too loudly in the lunch room (when there are 100+ students in a lunch room it is going to be loud even if everyone is talking at a normal level).
- constant write ups for wearing "inappropriate" clothes on free dress days. This is an example of what the All Saints administration considers "inappropriate": A child was written up because her loose sweat pants only came down to the middle of her calves, so they were considered capris which are not allowed to be worn until May 1st (the child was too afraid to wear jeans anymore because the jeans have to be farmer john overalls to pass the "too tight" rule and she was trying to avoid being written up for her jeans being too snug).

In addition to the punitive treatment of the children, the 7th and 8th graders were subjected to many anti-gay comments in religion class, which in my opinion is the exact opposite of what children should be learning in religion class.

There are so many excellent schools in the Plymouth Canton area there is no reason to settle for a school which has so many issues. Close Quote

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
