Open Quote Parents considering this school as an alternative for their child's education should do their research. Don't be lulled by the warm and fuzzies you get when entering the doors. Take the time to find former families with many different experiences. You will find successes, but also many tragedies. Look closely to the retention rates. Find research on line regarding Rudolph Steiner and his philosophies. Choose to be informed about how curriculum is taught as it is up to the individual teacher to choose their own method. Pay special attention to the fact that their are no formal assessments used to track student progress and how it may or may not be working for your child's transition out of Waldorf education. Be aware that teachers use methods of discipline that are left to each child's karma and reincarnation age. The practices here are mystical and closely defended. When questioning their methods or approaches you will find only the answers allowed by the constraints of their philosophies. There is little to no room to engage in intelligent give and take regarding your child's experiences with his/her teachers. Communications are mostly one sided even if you engage other parents with similar issues regarding their children's experiences. Do your self and your child a favor and if heading into this environment do it with your eyes wide open. Close Quote

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
