As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote My son changed many elementary schools in EBR because he did not like them very much. Finally he found the BR FLAIM is so good for him. Teachers at BR FLAIM are native speakers who are certified and highly qualified in their grade levels. They represent the countries of China, Spain, Guatemala, Columbia, France, and Belgium which rings a unique cultural perspective of their countries to share with the students. He spent two years in BR FLAIM and graduated this year. He misses this school very much, miss his teachers and principal Ms. Miller, Ms.Borruano, Ms. Fisher, Ms. Baker, Ms.Davis, Ms. Mazuera, Ms. Perkins, Ms. Lewis, etc. He had wonderful , unbelievable experience there. In this school, he got much help from school managers, teachers and classmates, he was so happy there and also he did great achievements there. For example, he was allowed to study high school courses there and he got highest scores in Louisiana state standard tests. He got the "President Award". He got the 1st place in Catholic High School Math Tournament. He also got the 2nd place in Louisiana State University High School Math Contest. This is the 1st time in Louisiana for an elementary school student won these titles in state high school STEM contests. BR FLAIM also got 2017 the National Blue Ribbon. This school is No. 1 in school management and teachers, because it is only "international teacher team", because teachers come from different nations or cultures. It is the best elementary school in Louisiana, maybe in national ! Close Quote

Open Quote I love Baton Rouge FLAIM! My son just finished kindergarten in the French program, and we couldn't be happier. I can't believe how much language he has learned in only one year. His teacher was absolutely adorable--from France--and I hear the other teachers are amazing too. My only complaint about this school is that its hard to find--this site doesn't even have the right name! If this school were marketed better, they could double their enrollment. Their results speak for themselves. The facilities aren't anything to get excited about, but they're adequate. I look forward to enrolling my younger children in the coming years. Close Quote

Open Quote My daughter is in the French program and we are very pleased! Not only is she becoming fluent in a second language but she tests high in all her academics. An unexpected bonus of the program is that the children learn so much more about the international world, other cultures and ways of life. We've actually learned from her!

As a transplant coming in from out of state, it was overwhelming to work my way through the schooling options in Baton Rouge. I investigated everything, and I don't believe we could have made a better choice. Additionally, BR FLAIM was accepting of my daughter's age when starting kindergarten. She is right on the cutoff and if you have a child who falls in this range, many/most schools in town will make you hold them off a year and do not give the parents a choice.

The school is not beautiful or shiny, but that does not reflect the quality of the program. Go inside, talk to the teachers, staff and parents, talk to the kids, you'll see why this program/school works. Close Quote

Open Quote Awesome program! All four (4) of my children have gone to this school and speak, read & write in French! It is so much fun watching them communicate with others in French...I wish I could!! They also perform GREAT on the standardized test and my oldest is now a Freshman in college and already has a minor in French. Close Quote

Open Quote With an official name change to "Baton Rouge Foreign Language Academic Immersion Magnet" in 2011, this school has been called a 'hidden gem in Baton Rouge' by our school board members. It's also received national and international recognition and named a Magnet School of Excellence for the last 3 years. This is a language immersion school in addition to an academic magnet school. Children learn math, science, social studies, and foreign language grammar in either French or Spanish by a certified teacher from a native speaking French or Spanish country. An American teacher then spends two hours teaching children English language arts. Children finish 5th grade being bilingual (but usually are bilingual by 3rd grade) to continue in the immersion program at Westdale Middle Magnet, and eventually in to high school at the well-known Baton Rouge Magnet High.

Children enjoy low student-teacher ratios, lots of individualized attention, and a multicultural and multilingual experience that even the best and most expensive private schools cannot offer. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
