Open Quote There is no doubt that the teaching philosophy at Virginia Chance School is exceptional. However, parents need to be aware that the school will not accept siblings of enrolled students unless you commit in writing to sending your children through the entire 9 year program. Having a child already enrolled in Chance does not secure your other children a place at the school. In our situation, our second child was denied a place at the school because we wouldn't explicitly commit to staying through the entire elementary program. I have also been told that we're not the first family to experience this. I know of no other school with this policy and in my opinion it reflects a desperate attempt to corner parents into keeping their children in a school that is struggling to keep kids enrolled. Open Quote My daughter and son attend Chance school and it is truely amazing. The school inspires the kids and often they fight in the car on the way home about who gets to tell about their day first. The teachers are amazing, the parents are very active and the kids are supported and inspired. I visited 7 schools and we selected this school because when we visited each class room had an energy unlike anywhere else. Our kids love going to school and honestly are far ahead of kids at other schools. Mosthly because the kids enjoy the hands on learning and actually engauge. They don't memorize facts they explore subjects and the kids truely understand instead of memorization. It is a great school- visit the campus... Close Quote

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
