As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Lowe is an excellent, well managed school. Teachers and staff are approachable and parents are engaged in their children's development. Close Quote

Open Quote Both of my children have attended Lowe and I have been very active in the PTA.There is not a better, more encouraging, and diverse school in JCPS. The principal is wonderful, engaged, and focused on bettering the school in a myriad of ways, not just tests, but also student morale, teacher happiness, and new curriculum development to challenge all our students at whatever level they happen to be. I love this community and will be sad when my son completes 5th grade and Lowe is no longer part of our daily lives as a family. Close Quote

Open Quote Lowe is a great school! They have an active PTA that truly invests in the kids and the teachers. The school has lots of opportunities for family involvement. My son felt comfortable there very quickly after he started and the administration gets to know all of the kids. They knew my sons name, and who I was, within just a couple of weeks of kindergarten.

The school is also rich in diversity, which was important to us. Close Quote

Open Quote Very structured learning environment with services to meet all students' needs. Office staff is very friendly and accommodating. Class sizes in 4th and 5th grade are too large, and teachers get to select from having an instructional assistant or being paid more money to teach more students. I don't agree with teachers selecting pay over having another adult to meet students' individual needs. Quality of teaching staff is variable. Close Quote

Open Quote The teachers, principal and counselor really care about the kids. Rated one of the best schools in the state. My child loves it - and when I see the other kids at school they look like they do too. Close Quote

Open Quote The teachers are always understanding and helpful. The office staff could be a lot nicer, but I assume they just don't like working there. The teachers seem to love it and that is what counts to me. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
