Open Quote Our daughter has been attending MCS since kindergarten and now is in the 4th grade. We believe shae has excelled so much due to small classroom size and the individualized attention the students receive. Most importantly, the school teaches the principle of christianity and the love of God. The students are also taught to honor and respect their parents, teachers and everyone in authority and each other. Close Quote

Open Quote Michiana Christian School (Sonrise Preschool) is such a great learning environment for all students. It rangers from preschool and K-6th grade. I have had friends and family both attend these school or have had children enrolled as students and have heard many great things about it. The teachers are very friendly and are involved in the students' lives inside and outside the school. They show concern on behalf of the students and take their education very seriously. I would highly recommend this school as a great place for young students to not only be educated in the general studies but as well as Christian principles and how to live our lives daily according to God's word. I would trust them with my future children to teach them about math, spelling, english, and reading as much as teaching them the word of God. Close Quote

Open Quote Michiana Christian School is a great private school for kids. The small class size and dedicated teachers/principal allows the children to thrive. They also go the extra mile for the kids regarding extra help in areas of concern. It is a safe environment for learning and as parents, we can see how much the teachers and principal care about the students. Close Quote

Open Quote We have sent our little girl to three local schools, all with different strengths and weaknesses. First, we sent her to kindergarten at Kennedy Magnet school for highly able children. Kennedy had "lunch" at 9:40! and only one, too-brief, recess. She lost 5 Lbs in Kindergarten, and her health suffered. Next year, we sent her to Good Shepherd Montessori, where her health improved, BUT--. The teaching was uneven, and academic achievement was below par for a bright and able child.
At Michiana Christian School, there is a reasonable & appropriate schedule for keeping children healthy: adequate time for active play, and regular snacks and lunch. At the same time, I can say from close observation and experience that the academic achievement of the children at MCS surpasses that of the children at Kennedy magnet school -- OR Good Shepherd. Even though Kennedy only admits children who test "highly able" intellectually, MSC , without any such test, has higher achieving children.
Class sizes are half what they are at Kennedy or Good Shepherd, and tuition is less than half Good Shepherd's tuition.

Open Quote My husband and I are so happy with love and attention our children receive from the teachers at MCS. The classes are small so the personal attention has been such a bonus for our girls and we love the challenging curriculum . We are excited to be part of a school with such strong leadership in place. We are also excited to be part of the growth we are experiencing at MCS. When I asked my girls what they loved about their school their answer was their teachers and principal. The teacher they have makes learning so much fun for them and they feel as though the principal cares about how they are doing. MCS has been such a blessing to our family! Close Quote

Open Quote I am very happy with the school. My daughter started attending the school as a preschooler and is now in 1st grade. The teachers are so caring and you just can't put a price on the values that the children are learning, in addition to the basics such as math, reading and writing. As a parent I am so impressed that my 1st grader is already reading! I would highly recommend the school. Close Quote

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
