As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote The staff here are not all bad; however, teachers- specifically those teaching 11th grade classes- are very poor at their job. They have no sympathy for the more busy students. My personal experience as a member of the golf team having to stay out until 9:30 for a match one day had come to school the following day with History homework not completed; I did, however, complete my math homework which I believed needed more attending to. When I went to school and informed my teacher that I had not completed the homework I received a, "Too bad" as well as a zero. The staff here are particularly in favor of the students who inhabit the A-Wing, where our music department lies, because ever since I've attended this school the marching band kids have always been able to receive relief from homework and were even allowed to take tests at a latter date than others. The teachers also throw blame at students for not understanding a subject that was not well-taught. I agree that more can be accomplished by the student at home, however, in certain classes- Honors Physics specifically- a large majority in all classes struggle and barely maintain a C. Moreover, the struggles of the student and "complaints" are often fought back with demeaning sarcasm in front of the class as to embarrass and upset the single teenager. Also, the security guards are unnecessarily forceful towards students that appear "less aggressive" than others. Non-Caucasian groups of students are yelled at for rule-breaking (i.e. loitering in the halls) whereas many of the darker-pigmented groups are ignored completely. Currently- in this year of 2013- the rules of current principal Mr. White have indeed helped turn some students' ways of life around and more homework is being completed; however, this system targets many who do not deserve a punishment such as those swamped with work or projects and extra-curricular activities. Yes, all should be doing their homework, but I believe the student who is not involved in a sport or activity and has easier or less classes is more at fault for not completing assignments than the Honors student with 8 classes that has to stay after school for a club they are a member of everyday. I am not proud of Bolingbrook High school. It saddens me to attend this school and I cringe at the mere fact that I try hard in a school that shows no respect for the students who care and that want to go somewhere. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
