East Union Community School District

The East Union Community School District is home to two strong, well-performing schools that serve students from preschool through 12th grade. East Union Middle-High School and East Union Elementary have demonstrated impressive academic achievements, with several grade levels exceeding the state average on standardized tests.

East Union Elementary stands out as a top-performing school, ranking 83 out of 557 Iowa elementary schools for the 2023-2024 school year and earning a 4-star rating from SchoolDigger. The school consistently achieves high proficiency rates on ISASP tests, with 92.1% of 5th graders proficient or better in English Language Arts and 89.5% proficient or better in Science. Additionally, East Union Elementary maintains a relatively low student-teacher ratio of 13.2.

While East Union Middle-High School serves a larger student population of 259 students, it has also performed well on ISASP tests, with several grade levels exceeding the state average in both English Language Arts and Mathematics. The 8th-grade students, in particular, demonstrated exceptional performance, with 90.5% proficient or better in both English Language Arts and Science. Like its elementary counterpart, East Union Middle-High School maintains a low student-teacher ratio of 13.1.
