Centennial Arts Academy has consistently been ranked in the bottom half of Georgia elementary schools, with a ranking of 925 out of 1,248 schools for the 2023-2024 school year and a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger. The school's test scores are significantly lower than the Gainesville City and Georgia state averages across all grade levels and subject areas. For example, in 2023-2024, only 19.2% of 3rd graders were proficient or better in English Language Arts, compared to 25.4% for Gainesville City and 38.4% for Georgia. The school's math and science proficiency rates are also well below the district and state averages. Additionally, Centennial Arts Academy's performance has declined over the years, with its statewide ranking dropping from 654 out of 1,205 schools in 2016-2017 to 925 out of 1,248 schools in 2023-2024. This trend is concerning and suggests that the school is struggling to improve student outcomes.

Open Quote Great school! My daughter, who was basically introverted, is in her 4th year at CAA. Since starting school at CAA, she has bloomed! Her kindergarten teacher, Ms. Whitaker, was great! Her first grade teacher, Mrs. Boyers, was fantastic also! Her second grade teacher, Mrs. Orr, was awesome! And her third grade homeroom teacher, Mrs. Izaguirre, and math teacher, Mrs. Brewer, are both superior teachers! I am very pleased with quality of education that she is receiving at CAA. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The Principal, Ms. Williams, and the Assistant Principal, Mrs. Frierson, BOTH do an incredible job. Ms. Williams, who was the Assistant Principal to Mrs. Gilliam, the former principal, is really doing a wonderful job! Ms. Williams assisted Mrs. Gilliam, who was also great, for many years. Ms. Williams knows her job! If she wasn't capable of performing her job, believe me, she would not be the principal of CAA. I believe when parents show up, and show an interest in their Childs education, the child performs better, and the staff knows that the parent cares. We have a policy in America, "No child left behind", no matter what their situation is. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
