Hopewell Middle School has consistently outperformed the Fulton County and Georgia state averages in the Milestones Assessment across various subjects and grade levels. In the 2023-2024 school year, the school had an impressive 99.4% proficiency rate in Algebra I, compared to 57.4% for Fulton County and 44% for the state. The school also performed well in English Language Arts and Mathematics, with proficiency rates significantly higher than the district and state averages. Hopewell Middle School's academic performance is generally higher than the nearby schools in the Fulton County district, such as Crabapple Middle School, Autrey Mill Middle School, and Taylor Road Middle School.

Hopewell Middle School's low student-teacher ratio, ranging from 13.1 to 14.3 over the past three school years, and higher spending per student, ranging from $9,339 to $9,753, set it apart from many of the nearby schools. The school's consistent 5-star rating from SchoolDigger is a testament to its ability to provide a quality education to its students. While some schools in the neighboring Forsyth County district, such as Piney Grove Middle School and Vickery Creek Middle School, also demonstrate strong academic performance, Hopewell Middle School's consistent high performance and low free and reduced lunch rates make it an attractive option for families in the Alpharetta area.

Open Quote Hopewell Middle School is the worst! I am so glad this is my daughters last year at this racist, unsafe school! Please don’t enroll your children here. The principal is also racist & does nothing to stop the bullying, vandalism, racism & horrible teachers & guidance counselor. If you are a minority please run as far away from this school as you can. Open Quote For the single year I sent my child to HMS, it was torture. The teachers were cold and robotic, showing no interest in teaching whatsoever. My child would often come home bored out of his mind due to the teachers giving them unreasonable amounts of homework and classwork. He complained about the cafeteria food daily, saying that it makes his stomach hurt. I advise any parent looking into this school to turn back and go to a better school like Northwestern Middle School. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
