Open Quote My son currently goes to SCA, and has been attending there since 4th grade. His 4th grade year was awesome with Mrs. Groom. The rest of the years have been average. I feel that SCA is rigid in their expectations of students, and are not meeting the needs of students who come from all different walks of life, which is what their population has become. For instance, many students have problems with organization. I agree that students need to be held accountable for the quality of their work & turning it in on time. However, I disagree with the all or nothing scenario that does not scaffold students to facilitate learning this skill without totally failing. I also feel that the school needs to do a better job with recognizing multi-culturism by celebrating things like Black History month, Hispanic Heritage and other ethnic holidays. Finally, I feel that SCA needs to do a better job with addressing the concerns of the "average" parents & not just parents who are wealthy and influential in the school. Two teachers who were problematic in the middle school were finally dismissed, but only after the parents who have pull there complained. However, other parents had been complaining way before then. I am sticking with the school because public education in Jacksonville, FL is scary! SCA has great potential, but administration really needs to get it together for it to move from average to great. About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
