Open Quote It make my so happy to see that my three year old son is so well cared and loved in a truly wonderful education environment. The teachers are well trained and warm and loving with kids. The school owner is very approachable and always put the children first. I appreciate all the care and attention my son is receiving as well as the skilled staff and the management. Baldwin Oaks Academy is a wonderful community to be a part of! Close Quote

Open Quote I'm not sure what the supervision was in the past...but I think that most of the staff is different from the negative review below. My kids ALWAYS have a report about any bump or bruise. Although I appreciate the attention to feedback, half of the time i'm thinking 'she just bumped her leg...why am I getting an incident report?' So if I am thinking that (I'm persnickty), then obviously they are very communicative, and prompt with their reports.
Moreover, my children are being taught, loved, and respected. I have tried out other preschools. Even the fancy pants ones one Park Ave. This school is beyond our expectations. It makes the other schools seem like glorified day care. I was told that my 5 year old was developmentally delayed when I asked another school why they weren't teaching phonics, or the alphabet. He was reading his second week at BOA, and is now able to read, or sound out ANYTHING that you put in front of him. He is also doing multiplication, addition and is being taught life skills that boost his confidence. The teachers here adore the children, but are also no-nonsense. I could not say enough about the teaching staff. Close Quote

Open Quote I don't know what the last reviewer was talking about. I LOVE this school! The teachers are great and very caring. When there is a problem, the teachers are the first ones to inform you. Also, if your child does get a scrape or bump (as it happens with children), the teacher lets you know when you pick up your child and you also get a form letting you know exactly what happened.
My daughter enjoys going to school at BOA. She was very shy and socializing with the other children has helped her a lot. She is only 3 years old and is already learning how to write her name, recognize letters, knows all the colors, etc.
What I love the most about this school is that it is that it feels like home. The teachers love these kids. They truly care about them and are very encouraging.
When your child is excited about getting up early so that they can go to school, you know the school is definitely doing something right. Close Quote

Open Quote If you want an expensive school where you can not be assured of your child's safety, then Baldwins Oaks is for you. I recently enrolled my daughter in school there. For a private school I was very taken aback by the lack of control over the kids and lack of feedback given to parents when "issues" arised. Not that I expect strict discipline or constant feedback but my daughter has been attacked by another student repeatedly without ever being contacted by the school. I found out by the mother who apologized to me in the parking lot one morning for her son biting my daughter "for the second time" and that "we talked to him and it won't happen again". Not surprisingly, my daughter said one day, "I'm afraid of so-and-so", "why" her grandfather asked. Then she explained how he continues to hit her and even pushed her off from a platform. Shocked that we were still having these issues and hadn't been notified (again) by any of the staff, I called the school. No one answered on the phone (like another time I had called). I left a message but was not really expecting a call back as they didn't return a message I had left previously. This, coupled with a number of bumps, scrapes and bee-stings that we've found out about heading home or at bathtime (i.e. not reported by the staff) has put me to the limit. Besides, the issues with violence there, educationally my daughter's progress has been questionable - seemed to be learning better at the school we had her at previoulsy. But even if the program was good there - the lack of safety and my daughter's "learning" to fear school...no program can offset that. Close Quote

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
