Open Quote Please read the following document before enrolling your child in Holy Family Catholic School Preschool. Parents should be cognizant of these policies and procedures before they invest in this school.

1. The school takes at least a week off every month. Working parents need to find a childcare to look after their child during this time. These places cost at least $50.00 a day. This is an extra cost needs to be part of budgeting for Holy Family.

2. At the beginning of the school year the preschool will ask the parents to spend $50.00 to have the child screened for occupational therapy. Do not fall for this. The recommended person charges $50.00 for ½ an hour. If you really think your kid needs to be screened there are free services throughout the county. In addition occupational therapy is free through the school district. Both public and private school kids share this opportunity.

3. At the begging of the school year the class size is about 10 for pre-k 3. As the school year progresses the number steadily increases to 15-16. As time goes on your child gets less and less personal attention.

4. The preschool did receive the blue ribbon. However that was under the last director. The present one did not earn it. This preschool is not any better then other ones in the area.

5. At the end of the school year the preschool screens the students. Some of the 3 year old kids will be asked to leave simply because they failed a test at the end of the year. They do not let families look at the scores. The parent has to take the schools word that the student passes or not.

6. Most Catholic schools are open to people of all religions. However if the student is not Catholic they are under constant threat of being kicked out and replaced by a Catholic student.

If a parent still wants to enroll their kid in this program after reading my warnings, I have one suggestion. Only enroll in the pre-k 4 program and skip pre-k 3. That minimizes the time in the preschool and the child will not get screened out at the end of the Close Quote

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
