Magnolia Montessori Academy, in particular, has exceptional academic performance, with 5-star ratings and high proficiency rates across all grade levels and subject areas. While Mi Escuela Montessori's performance is generally lower than the nearby traditional public schools, such as Highlands Grove Elementary and Valleyview Elementary, the gap is not as significant as the comparison to the high-performing charter schools.

Open Quote The teachers at this school don't seem trained to teach Spanish. Being a native speaker and being a teacher who can teach a language are two different things. My children spent two years at this school and learned very little about the Spanish language. Communication between teacher and parent is severely lacking, and the principal can be kind and caring but can also be so anxious and irritated that she snaps. Pros: the students here are very sweet and my child made lots of great friends the school felt safe and welcoming. Cons: many student disruptions due to behavior (many kids end up here because they aren't a good fit elsewhere), overall weak teachers (though there are a few amazing teachers here!), poor communication, lack of academic rigor, loss of teaching time because children are in Spanish classroom (but yet, not learning Spanish). About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
