Learning Lodge Academy

Summary:

Learning Lodge Academy is a public charter elementary school serving 261 students in grades K-8 in New Port Richey, Florida, which is part of the Pasco County school district.

Despite having a higher percentage of economically disadvantaged students compared to many surrounding schools, Learning Lodge Academy outperforms the Pasco County and Florida state averages in several key academic areas, including 3rd-7th grade English Language Arts and Math proficiency, as well as 5th grade Science proficiency. The school also has a significantly higher percentage of white students (75.86%) compared to the more diverse student populations at nearby schools like Richey Elementary and Gulf Highlands Elementary.

While Learning Lodge Academy's chronic absenteeism rate of 28.7% is lower than some surrounding schools, it is still higher than the state average. Additionally, the school's spending per student ($8,482 in 2022-2023) is lower than the surrounding district schools, which may indicate the school is operating efficiently or potentially underresourced compared to its peers. Overall, Learning Lodge Academy appears to be a relatively high-performing school within the Pasco County district, with strong academic outcomes and a unique student demographic composition.

Open Quote Very terrible school. I know many parents who pulled their kids out to go back to public or other schools finding that their kids are now behind and needed extra help or to be put back a grade level. My kids started the first year the school opened and the education continually declined. The school is run very poorly and there is a lack of communication. They actually seem to try to keep parents in the dark about what is happening. They seem to care more about money than kids, families and education. Glad to be out of there and getting back on track. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
