Open Quote Excellent school. Excellent teachers. The state needs to open up more schools in this area. It is one of the fastest growing areas in Florida and in the country. There are thousands of homes being built in Horizons West, and the taxes are flowing in, higher every year but schools and roads are behind the curve on building to keep up. Despite that, the local efforts of the principal are outstanding and it's a great school, we need help from our local and state leaders to do their job in this effort to keep up with growth. Open Quote terrible, at the academic level is very good but at the social level is VERY POOR AND INSENSITIVE. my daughter suffered bullying and the staff did not handle the situation properly, we did not have support from the administrative side, they do not have good consuls. the teachers are very good but without a good administration they cant do anything. almost destroyed my daughter's life in this school. Open Quote Horrible school, the staff does not address any bulling. Yes it is announced on the overhead speaker if a child is being bullied come see Mr. Ryner or other staff from the school. All they tell the child, we will look into it and they have the child that was bullied write a report, end of story. No counseling is ever offered to the child that was bullied which affected her self-esteem. The one that is bulling never gets suspended. The school covers up all scandal that happens in their school because if it is revealed it will drop their grade A. My daughter was also bullied in the school bus and nothing was ever done. Having the power to see the cameras as proof of what was done. But, again nothing was done. I am very much sure the school is manipulated by the surrounding upper class neighborhood to keep things low key. I don’t recommend this school to anyone coming from other side of town.

Note: Teachers are wonderful but Assistant Principle and Principle does not take bulling seriously.

Sadly we are new to Windermere and I am looking for another middle school for the new school year 2014 - 2015. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
