It has a significantly higher chronic absenteeism rate (39.4%) compared to nearby schools like Bell Creek Academy (13.8%) and Randall Middle School (15.0%). The school also consistently underperforms the district and state in standardized test scores, with only 31%, 29%, and 24% of students proficient or better in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade English Language Arts, respectively. Additionally, 73.52% of Turkey Creek students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, much higher than the surrounding schools.

Open Quote The staff has completely given up on the children, their only outlet is suspension! it doesnt matter what your child is dealing with physically or emotionally...they all turn a blind eye! They talk with you as if they care and are concerned, but really they gave up months ago! alo...if ur child has an IEP or A 504...dont expect it to be followed. apparently only ONE of my daughters diagnoses were put on her 504...causing alot of trouble! This school is by far the worst, known best for its fights!! Think again before subjecting your child to this kind of atmosphere! Close Quote

Open Quote The teachers at this school are caring and truly interested in helping all students reach their potential. Safety is at a premium and fighting is almost non-existent. I think this a wonderful school with small class sizes and a caring community. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
