Additionally, Arlington Elementary's test scores are consistently lower than the Duval district and Florida state averages across all grade levels and subjects.

Despite the school's challenges, it has a high percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch, ranging from 68.75% to 74.42% over the past few years, which is higher than the 47.24% to 77.59% range of the surrounding schools like Arlington Heights Elementary School, Holiday Hill Elementary School, and R L Brown Gifted And Talented Academy. This suggests that the school may be facing complex socioeconomic and educational challenges that require a comprehensive, targeted approach to address and improve student outcomes.

Open Quote I loved the school when I took a tour of it looking for a school to send my Son. I thought the principal was very nice and she knows all the students by name. I enrolled my child and I really am happy with him attending the school. The only downside this school has is lack of Parent involvement. At last years open house out of a very large class of 30+ only about a hand full of parents came to meet the teachers. Also I noticed that on the first day when your to bring school supplies, not many of the students brought any supplies. I felt like I was bringing supplies for everyone. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
